Are you unhappy with your home’s interior design but can’t put your finger on why? You may be the victim of a bad or boring color scheme. It's no secret that color can make or break a design, but luckily, it’s pretty easy to change. Share on X
Sublime Color Pairings
Colors change when lightness and saturation are modified, so it’s not enough to pick a color for a certain interior design element because you also need to pick a tone and a shade. Light colors are airy and generally make rooms feel large and bright. Dark colors are elegant and warm and make rooms feel intimate. Here are a few other fabulous color pairings:
- Pink and Light Grey
- Pale Mint and Dark Grey
- Moss Green and Berry
- Black and Wine
- Mustard and White
1) Pink and Light Grey
Light gray walls and pink woodwork takes provides an airy, elegant combination. The effect is light enough to incorporate dark wood tones and substantial antique furniture, without making the entire space feel dark.
2) Pale Mint and Dark Grey
A dark and stormy ceiling paired with pale mint makes for an impressive room. The dark ceiling and trim takes the sweetness out of the mint, and amps up the sophistication. Mix modern pieces of furniture in white and light wood tones, and add a statement wall of antique mirrors and framed art to reflect the light and draw the eye.
3) Moss Green and Berry
Deep moss green and vibrant berry make a big statement, but without the harshness of other tones. Deep colors offer a big impact, but because they’re so powerful, they should be handled carefully. Stay classic with furnishings so as to avoid the space feeling overwhelming.
4) Black and Wine and White
Black and white alone is just a bit too stark, but black and wine are a bit too dark. Combining the 3 offers clean edges with white trim and ceiling, and bold color with black walls and wine accents (drapery, furnishings).
5) Mustard and White
Mustard is gorgeous and elegant paired with crisp bright white. You can go a little Scandinavian with white walls, then pops of mustard with antique leather chairs and a leather Chesterfield sofa.
